Christmas Display Decisions
The holiday season, it seems, is when my family always makes momentous decisions. We have to decide:
- what to serve at the Christmas dinner party
- what gifts to give each other
- and where to go to celebrate new year's
We all have our opinions on these options, which usually results in difficulty arriving at a unanimous decision. There is, however, one point on which we can all reach an agreement. We strive to make our Christmas display more grandiose every year.
There's a reason we can all cooperate on this one concern. The local neighborhood home owners association puts on a colossal contest each season. The winner of the best holiday display creation gets a grand prize of five hundred dollars. Because the competition gets serious, we have to show some real creativity when unveiling our Christmas display. Standard off-the-shelf decorations and so-so scenes don't stand a chance of winning.
We all search high and low for lights, animated figures and other props that nobody else in the neighborhood is likely to find that year. The reality is, that patronizing our local mall for the Christmas display paraphernalia is out of the question—we now shop exclusively online.
