A sophisticated and simple way to add that personal touch to your Christmas tree is with a photo Christmas ornament. Maybe it's just me, but the most important idea in Christmas decorating is to express your feelings. Photo Christmas ornaments do that in spades. They proudly display the things that most matter you; family and friends. But did you know that they can make a fun and absorbing craft project for the entire family.
My first photo Christmas ornament, though, was of the purchased variety. It was a beautiful pewter photo frame which hung from a tiny hook. After inserting a photo of my girlfriend and placing it on the Christmas tree, I really liked the way it looked. By the way, it was a gift from her, so I wanted to display it as an expression of my love for her.
When the next Christmas vacation time came around, I thought it might be cool to create my own Christmas decoration. I endeavored to make a photo Christmas ornament on my own. I'm pretty good at carving wood, and I actually made my wooden frame over the next two days. When it was finished, it looked impressive. I placed a photo of myself inside and gave it as a gift to my girlfriend.
As it turns out, there are much easier ways to create a photo Christmas ornament than my method. I met a friend who crafts them out of common items found around the house. Apparently, she's into folksy art, and discovers ways to craft items out of things that would otherwise be tossed out. Popsicle sticks, sardine tins, pieces of packaging and other types of wrapping stuff are all used to make a photo Christmas ornament. With some paints and sparkles, and a little imagination, you can make amazing crafts there are appropriate to be presented as personalized Christmas gifts.
Of course, there are many really nice photo Christmas ornaments that can be had only by purchasing custom made Christmas decorations. Laser engraved Christmas ornaments, for one, can combine photographs with stylish glass etching.
So, whether you prefer the homemade artistic look or something professionally created, consider using photos in your Christmas decorating this season. You'll be amazed by how they add personality to your holiday cheer!
