I Love Christmas Decorations
Christmas; I love everything about it; it's my favorite time of year. I love putting out Christmas decorations and having family and friends over for food and drinks. It is a wonderful time of year for me and I love making memories with those I care about.
Ornaments As Decoration
Because of my great love of the holidays, I have collected many Christmas decorations over the years. While traveling, I look for the selection of Christmas decorations in gift and souvenir shops. We now have so many ornaments that we get two trees every season so I can display all the Christmas decorations I have accumulated. This is great because we place one tree in the living room window so that it can be seen from the outside as well as inside. We put the second tree in our bedroom. I like to fall asleep watching the Christmas lights make the decorations sparkle.
By having the two trees, I can place the fancy ornaments on the living room tree and the homemade ornaments on the bedroom tree. Having two trees is more work, but it is worth the extra effort. I also like to place a small artificial Christmas tree with miniature ornaments in the guest bathroom.
Ornaments are not the only Christmas decorations that I collect. I also have a winter scene village as well as a snowman village. I put out the village displays from the day after Thanksgiving to the end of January. I have also begun collecting hand crafted old time Santa’s. They are made by a local artist from recycled furs and wool fabrics. Each one is a beautiful work of art and has its own character. I display them until the end of January as well.
Food As Decoration
Another thing that I enjoy about Christmas is baking and making snacks. This time of year people do not seem to be too concerned about what they eat. Entertaining is so much fun during the holiday season because the Christmas decorations on cookies and candies add that festive look to the trays. I make sure I have plenty of Christmas goodies available from the day after Thanksgiving until New Years for all that drop by. I prepare special snack mixes that are both sweet and salty to bring to friends. I also make small baskets of fudge to place on co-workers desks.
I enjoy life all the time but nothing can compare to the festive feeling I get when I put out the first Christmas decorations each year. Seeing the special ornaments and decorations that I have collected over the years is like greeting old friends.
