Battery (and Solar) Powered Christmas Lights
Christmas lights can be an elegant and fun way to light up the holiday season, but standard AC light strings are limited by the location of outlets in your home. If you don't want multiple extension cords running across your floors, you will only be able to hang lights in certain locations. Whether this is a problem for you or not, you can hang Christmas lights where there is no electricity available by getting battery powered Christmas lights.
You can find battery powered Christmas lights online and in select retail stores, and in many different color as well. Just don't forget to stock up on batteries, and remember that the more lights you use, the more batteries you'll need. This might be an excellent time to purchase some rechargeable batteries.
If you plan on hanging lights outside, around your doorway or on a tree in your yard, battery powered Christmas lights may be just what you're looking for. If you want to decorate a pine tree in your yard, but don’t want to run extension cords through it, battery powered Christmas lights will do the job. And if you watch the batteries, your lights will shine bright throughout the holidays.
If you were unaware, solar powered Christmas lights are also available for outside seasonal decorating. Solar Christmas lights typically come with a ground stake with the panel, two or more rechargeable batteries and the cable—string—of lights. The light string may be 20 feet or more with a lead in from the solar power source. These solar powered Christmas lights turn on automatically at dusk and will usually stay lit for 8 hours or more. Battery powered Christmas lights are also a good alternative if you have a limited amount of outlets in your house. Most newer homes have plenty of outlets, and finding one is not usually a problem. However, if you live in a slightly older home, you may only have one or two outlets per room, and you don't really want to unplug everything just to power your Christmas lights. Battery powered Christmas lights will free up your outlets and allow you to go wild with the decorations if you so choose.
