If you don't want to get too complicated with decorating every Christmas, you really don't have to purchase a lot of different items for your light display. You can run into problems when looking for lights of a specific color that may not be as readily available as the more common colors. Almost every year I search for blue lights and by the time I get around to it, I'm usually too late; they're all gone. If you anticipate such a problem, you may even decide to skip the stores and buy online. You'll probably find better ideas too. You may even find lighting effects that aren't necessarily on a string.
