Christmas Light String Ideas

One of the most prevalent decorations used each year around the holidays is the Christmas light string. These come in many colors and styles, such as faceted, bubble, star, glitter and more… and even folks who do not do much decorating will have a few of these in their home. They always look good on the Christmas tree, and they have decorating potential in all areas of your home, inside and out. Best of all, they don't have to cost a lot to add a festive holiday look to your home and finding them is a easy. They're everywhere.

A Christmas light string will brighten up your tree, though you may need more than one. You can get a very long string in one color, such as white, or you can buy light strings that have multiple colors. If you only want to have two colors — red and green, for example — you can get two shorter strings and place them both on the tree. That way you get what you like, but did not have to search all over the place for a specific string of Christmas lights that might have had just the two colors you wanted to decorate your tree with.

When you are decorating the rest of your house, you can use your Christmas light string almost anywhere, as long as you have a place to plug it in and it won't keep you up during the night. Some people like to hang the strings around the ceiling in the living room, or they like to surround the doorways with them. You can pretty much do anything you like as long as you feel good about the look you have created. If electrical outlets are not available, you can always get some battery powered Christmas lights to fix that problem. However, you then have to worry about batteries running down before the season is over.

You can also use your Christmas light string to do some brilliant decorating on the outside of your home. When you choose to do this, however, you do have to purchase strings that are made for outdoors in order to be sure your house and family stay safe. If you use the wrong type of lights outside they could short out and set your home on fire. Also, always check each string for burnt-out bulbs and any fraying of the wires to be sure you are using lights that are as safe as possible.
