Cat Christmas Ornaments and My Husband
I love cats. I live with two friendly cats. Oh, and my husband. He often complains that I lavish much more attention and time upon the felines than I do him. When I was a child we had cats. Dressing them up in doll clothes and feeding them milk from baby bottles—they were my dolls.
I also love Christmas—everything about the holidays from the decorating and shopping to entertaining and cooking. This year, while rummaging through my holiday decoration box, It occurred to me that my two passionscats and Christmas—have been obvious to my friends and family. I had never really noticed the large quantity of decorations that I had that are cat Christmas ornaments. This came as a shock, considering I have never purchased a single cat Christmas ornament for myself.
As I was arranging the decorations to put aside for this season, I put all the decorations that had cats themes, together. I found a cat ornament that was decked-out like Santa Claus. There was another ornament that had a kitty peeping out of a holiday stocking, and I discovered two that where 'angelic' cats. There were several other ornaments of various sizes of cats with bows tied around their necks.
When I was a young girl, my mother gave me my first cat Christmas ornament, but I hadn't realized that I had acquired such a collection over the years. I mentioned the 'discovery' to my husband when he got home from work. I showed him my rather large display of cat decorations. He was surprised by the number as well and mentioned that if someone would have asked him, he would have remembered only one cat Christmas ornament; the one that was given to me by my mother. He knew that particular one was special to me because it was from my childhood.
I suggested that maybe we should employ an all cat theme for Christmas this year—we could find some special outfits for the felines and I could dress Puss and Boots up like I did when I was just a little girl. Also, we could have tuna fish for Christmas dinner. "I hope you're joking", he said. I was joking about the tuna fish, but I just might see if I can find some cute outfits for the kitties this holiday.
