Cat lovers, Christmas and ornaments—what do these have in common? Well, there are holiday decorations created to please cat lovers and there are decorations to enrapture the felines as well. For cat-lovers and cats who would treasure a timeless cat Christmas ornament this season, are the following precious ideas
While searching for Christmas ornaments, I came across a beautiful hand-painted cat ornament. The cat’s face was painted directly on the glass bulb. Two soft and furry-looking ears were glued—set slightly apart—on to the top of the bulb. Apparently, this endearing decoration comes in a variety of styles and each kitty has a cute expression. No two are alike so this cat Christmas ornament is indeed unique.
I thought I'd like to make a craft project of this so I purchased some glass paint and furry felt for making the ears. After buying some—white and silver—ornament bulbs, I got busy creating my first cat Christmas ornament. I have to point out right now that it looked easier than it actually was. To begin with, painting on glass is not an easy task and painting on a round glass object is quite challenging.
My first attempt was not entirely successful, to say the least. The only decorating this ornament—and I use the term loosely—was good for, was decorating the inside of a trash bag. But being persistent, I wasn’t going to give up on creating a visually appealing cat Christmas ornament. After carefully studying pictures of cats, my second attempt turned out better.
Better in this case, however, did not mean good. As a matter of fact, better meant something kind of spooky looking. My kitty ornament looked a little more like a Halloween item than anything connected to Christmas. Can you guess what I did with that second cat Christmas ornament.
On the third—my final—attempt I had the realization that some things should be left to the true artists. My third cat Christmas ornament had the appearance of some sort of reindeer, not of a feline. I'm not sure how it happened, but it did. I know where I'll put this one; the same place that I put the first.
The reason for not attempting a fourth project was now obvious to me. I wasn't good at it. So I decided to buy the cat Christmas ornament that originally caught my eye. This adorable addition to my Christmas tree is now my favorite. And after telling everyone about my kitty ornament project, I really didn't see the need to mention where my cat Christmas ornament really came from.
