Christmas Music Styles and Choices

You know it's almost holiday time when the Christmas music starts playing everywhere. There are a few songs that are my favorites, but most of them bring back fond memories. Maybe it's because those songs remind me of the magical Christmas times of my childhood.

Of course, there are some Christmas songs I can't stand, and those are some of the takeoffs of the original classics that you hear on the radio. My favorites are the traditional songs. Those are the ones that remind me of family and friends on Christmas day. What are your favorites and where can you find them?

You can definitely find all kinds of Christmas music at your local music store — if you still have one. With the emergence of online music downloads, local neighborhood music stores are disappearing. You can download one song, or you can download an entire album all at once from any of the many online music stores. Online or off, you can find religious Christmas music, or your favorite songs sung by just about any artist.

Some of my friends think that it's just not Christmas without their favorite songs playing in the background. If you like Mariah Carey, 'All I Want for Christmas is You' sounds pretty good. Or perhaps, Elvis, The Beach Boys or Andy Williams are more your thing.

If you like Christmas music and you are a musician, you can find sheet music for just about any song you can think of. If the song is covered by copyright, you may have to buy the sheet music, but it doesn't cost very much. This way, you can play your favorite Christmas music for your friends and family — have a Christmas party!

With some of the classic Christmas music, you can find many variations of the same song. You can find them with or without vocals and you can find Christmas songs done by a big band if that is your cup of tea. And don't forget Christmas carols. Why not get the lyrics to some popular songs and sing them to your friends and neighbors this Christmas?
